Calf Care

A clean living environment is crucial for new born calves. Treating pens with Calf Care prior to the introduction of youngstock will provide very effective sanitisation and reduce the risk of potentially fatal infections.

Calf Care quickly generates intense heat when in contact with water. This calcium oxide will reach a temperature of over 70°C to destroy all but the most thermally resistant organisms. Calf Care will maintain a sterile and stable alkaline environment of pH12 for sustained periods.

Good hygiene is a key requirement for the welfare of calves. Calf Care’s unique properties will help protect your calves against common diseases such as scours and pneumonia; by absorbing water it reduces the moisture and humidity that allow pathogens to persist in the environment and pass from calf to calf.

Calf Care is simple to use. It should be spread in the pens at a dosage rate of 500g/m² and then left for 24 hours (before the introduction of stock) to allow the thermal reaction to finish.
